Visit Gore Place With the Entire Family.

A family-friendly celebration honoring Robert Roberts, one of the first black authors in America to have a book published commercially, will take place on Saturday morning at Gore Place in Waltham.

Roberts’ “The House Servant’s Directory,” which was published in 1827 and advertised as a how-to manual, now provides a fascinating look back at black life in the 1820s.

Children will have the opportunity to take a tour of Gore Place, where Roberts served as butler, and discover more about how the home operated at that time. On the Gore Place website, you can purchase tickets.  

At Mgm Music Hall, Support the No. 1 Call of Duty Squad From Boston.

In case you missed it, during the past decade, eSports have become completely popular. This weekend at MGM Music Hall, where Oxygen Esports, the #1 Esports brand in New England, will hold a “Call of Duty” tournament with more than $500,000 in prizes up for grabs, the pleasure of watching professional gamers compete will be on full display.

One of the 12 professional teams competing, Boston Breach, is ranked third and will play FaZe from Atlanta in Round 1. Seats for the games on Saturday and Sunday have already sold out, but there are still tickets available for the games on Thursday and Friday.

Find Free Hot Chocolate and Ice Skating Are Available in Cambridge.

The Kendall Square Association is offering a free afternoon of ice skating from 12 to 4 p.m. in Kendall Square’s Canal District (at 300 Athenaeum Street in Cambridge) once the harsh cold of Saturday has subsided. There will be free skating, arts and crafts, food, and hot chocolate available.

Secure your shoes and make your way to Kendall’s Community Skate at Canal District. You can warm up your weekend with arts and crafts, food, and hot chocolate. Additionally, skate rentals are offered on a first-come, first-served basis.

A small number of tickets are still available for Friday’s 10 p.m. performance and Thursday’s 7 p.m. performance.
