The long-discussed ride-share pickup plans will finally see the light of the day at Boston’s Logan International Airport.
According to the changes, the current Uber and Lyft vehicles will be moved from special locations near each terminal to a centralised location built inside the airport’s Central Parking Garage.
Terminal A and Terminal C passengers will notice the changes first since those terminals serve both JetBlue and Delta.
On Friday, Massport announced a timeline for changes.
From Monday, October 28, Terminal A and C passenger, planning on using ride-share services such as Uber and Lyft, will be picked up at Central Parking Garage.
While Terminal A serves Delta and JetBlue, Terminal sees the arrival of JetBlue, Aer Lingus, Silver Airways, Cape Air and TAP.
Similarly, from November 4, passengers passing through Terminal B and E will be picked up at Central Parking Garage, if they plan on using ride-share services.
Terminal B serves American Airlines, Air Canada, Alaska Airlines, Spirit Airlines, Southwest Airlines, United Airlines and Boutique Air, and Terminal E serves all international airlines and all international arrivals in addition to a handful of domestic flights.
From Monday, November 11, between 4 a.m to 10 a.m, all ride-share drop-offs will be moved from upper-level departure curbs to lower level terminal curbs.
Logan Airport, from December 11, is also planning to move all ride-share drop-offs, unless they are between 4 a.m to 10 a.m, to Central Parking Garage.
The Logan Airport officials pushed for the changes to alleviate the situation of traffic congestion during peak hours.
